Objective of this study was to upscaling of Leaf Color Chart (LCC) for N management. During Boro 2005 a comparison of urea application by LCC and Farmers N-management was accomplished in 174 locations of 26 upzillas in 21 districts. Total of 1542 farmers used LCC. Grain yield were about 9.00% higher in LCC based N-management over farmers practice in case of BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29.

Upscaling of Leaf Color Chart (LCC) for N management.

This study was conducted in 174 locations of 26 upzillas in 21 districts of Bangladesh. During Boro 2005 a comparison of urea application by LCC and Farmers N-management was accomplished in 174 locations of 26 upzillas in 21 districts. For up scaling of LCC,training and proper guideline was imparted for GO-NGOs extension service providers and the farmers. Even LCC were distributed among the farmers for their use.

Total of 1542 farmers used LCC. Grain yield were about 9.00% higher in LCC based N-management over farmers practice in case of BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29. About 48 and 57 kg/ha less urea were applied in case of LCC compared to farmers N-management and these were equivalent to reported that incidence of disease and infestation of insects were comparatively lower in LCC based N-management compared to farmers practice in both BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29.
