Among the tested materials, only two such as H42 and H61 showed resistant reaction with the BB isolates, and H44, H50 and H64 showed moderately resistant reaction. In case of Sheath blight disease, 20 entries showed resistant reaction. Due to low temperature in Boro season, the disease incidence and severity of Sheath blight was very low even it was very low in susceptible check Purbachi. So, it is necessary to repeat the experiment for more confirmation in Aman season.

To identify resistant hybrid materials against Bacterial blight and Sheath blight diseases.

Eighty five hybrid genotypes with standard susceptible check (Purbachi) in Boro season were screened against Bacterial blight (Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae) and Sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) pathogens. For Bacterial blight, plants were inoculated at maximum tillering to booting stage in both the seasons. Most virulent and representative isolate of major race (BXO9) in Bangladesh was used for inoculation and inoculated by leaf clipping method. Data of leaf damaged area were collected 14 days after inoculation. For Sheath blight, the plants were inoculated with local Rhizoctonia solani culture grown on PDA medium at Panicle Initiation stage. Relative Lesion Height (RLH) data was taken at dough to maturity.
