A field experiment was conducted at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna and PRSS, BARI, Gazipur during Kharif 1 season of 2013. There were eighteen treatments-eight pre sowing, eight post sowing of herbicide, one hand weeding and untreated control. Herbicides were Whipsupper, Topstar, and Sunrise, 2- 4-D Amine, Herbikil, Commit, Vechete and Hammer. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with 3 replications.Weed control efficiency was the highest in hand weeding at 20DAE but among the herbicides, weed control efficiency was the highest in whipsuper and Topstar treated plot and also the highest seed yield and BCR of mungbean was recorded from whipsuper and Topstar treated plot in pre and post sowing and the lowest seed yield was found in Hammer and Vechete applied plot by post sowing condition but the highest number of weed population was obtained from Hammer and Vechete treated plot in pre and post sowing condition at Ishurdi, and at Joydebpur weed control efficiency was the highest in the hand weeding at 20 DAE but among the herbicides, whipsuper by post sowing application was found efficient for weed control but other herbicides failed to remarkable weed control.

To find out the suitable herbicide for controlling weed and optimum yield of mungbean in Kharif-1 season.
The experiment was carried out at PRC, Ishurdi, Pabna and PRSS, BARI, Gazipu during kharif 1 season of 2013. There were eighteen treatments were used in experimental field.Among the treatments eight are pre sowing of 8 herbicides, another eight are post sowing of the same herbicides at 20 DAE, one hand weeding and untreated control. Herbicides were Whipsupper (Phenoxaprop-T- Ethyl) @ 741ml ha-1 at 2-4 leaves of weed, Topstar (Oxadyarzil 296.2g ha-1), Sunrise (Ethoxy sulphuron 98.8g ha-1), 2- 4-D Amine (2,4-D 2223 ml ha-1), Herbikil (Pyrazo sulphuron Ethyl 123.5g ha-1), Commit (Protilachlor 988ml ha-1), Vechete (Butaclore 24.7 kg ha-1) and Hammar (Carfentazone ethyl 104 ml ha-1). The experiment was laid out in RCB design with 3 replications. Variety was used BARI Mug 6. The unit plot size was 4m X 3m. Seeds of mungbean @ 25 kg ha-1 were sown on 8 April 2013. The fertilizers were used @ N20 P40 K20 S20 kg ha-1 as basal. Herbicides were applied as per treatment with above mentioned dose during 2 days of seed sown as pre sowing and another one was post sowing at 20 DAE. One time sprayed imitaf for controlling thrips.Weed population was collected at 40 DAE and counted as species wise and oven dried unstill constant weight and weighted species wise. Pod was harvested on 6 June 2013 at Ishurdi but Joydebpur crop was damaged due to heavy rain during cropping season. Data on yield attributes were taken from 10 randomly selected plants per plot. All types of variable production costs were recorded to find out the gross return and benefit cost ratio. The collected data were compiled and tabulated properly for statistical analysis. Analysis of variance was done with the help of computer package M-stat program. Differences among treatment means were tested with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test .

It was found that,the herbicides, whipsuper by post sowing application is suitable and economically viable for weed control in mugbean.
