The experiment was conducted at the PRSS, BARI, Gazipur; PRC, Ishurdi, RARS, Jamalpur and RPRS,Madaripur during rabi 2012-2013 to find out the suitable variety of lathyrus as relay crop for the production of high biomass for vegetable and green fodder in between the fallow period of T.aman-Boro rice. It was found that Line-24 produced the highest green shak (vegetables) 3.81 t ha-1 and fodder 11.70 t ha-1 at Jamalpur; BARIKhesari-2 produced the highest green shak (7.13 t ha-1) but Serajgonj local produced the highest fodder (21.33 t ha-1) at PRC, Ishurdi; Serajgonj local also produced the highest green shak (1.07 t ha-1 and fodder (2.47 t ha-1) at Madaripur and green shak (1.59 t ha-1) and fodder 11.16 t ha-1 at Joydebpur. Maximum gross margin (Tk. 78100 ha-1) and BCR (4.63) were recorded from Line-24 at Jamalpur but the highest gross margin (Tk. 155660 ha-1) & BCR (6.68) at Ishurdi, gross margin (Tk. 10840 ha-1) & BCR (1.70 and gross margin (30620 ha-1) & BCR (2.30 ha-1) were obtained from Serajgonj local.

To find out the suitable variety of grasspea as relay crop for the production of high biomass for vegetable and green fodder in between the fallow period of T.aman-Boro rice.
The experiment was conducted at the PRSS, BARI, Gazipur; PRC, Ishurdi; RARS, Jamalpur and RPRS, Madaripur during rabi season of 2012-2013 to find out the suitable variety of lathyrus as relay crop for the production of high biomass for vegetable and green fodder in between the fallow period of T.aman-Boro rice. The Eight lathyrus germplasms were included as a treatment. Unit plot size was 5m ×4 m and replications were 03 (three). Seeds were sown on 3, 10, and 11 November, 2012 in broadcast method before 10 days of T.aman harvest as relay crop at Ishurdi, Joydebpur, Madaripur and Jamalpur, respectively. T.aman was harvested remaining 30cm straw height from the ground level. As a growth data number of plant population at m-2 was counted at germination stage. Green shak (vegetable) was collected by hand picking two times at 56 -60 and 72-75 days emergence before Boro cultivation. The total plot was harvested to collect the fodder weight at 80-88 days after sowing. Collected data were analyzed statistically and mean separation was done as per LSD test at 5% level of significance. All types of cultivation cost were recorded.

Considering the performance of Serajgonj local for all the locations and P-24 for Jamalpur region may be extended within the fallow period of T.aman and boro rice for extensive cultivation.
