At Ishurdi, among the herbicide application before sowing had significant effect on yield and yield contributing characters of lentil. The highest grain yield (1708kg/ha)) were obtained by weed free, manual control throughout the production period treatment (T3) and the lowest grain yield (1509 kg/ha produced by untreated control treatment (T2).But at Faridpur, grain yield was not significant, numerically the highest grain yield (1505 kg/ha) was found in also T3 and the lowest grain yield ( 1440 kg/ha) was recorded from T2. Grain yield was not varied significantly due to herbicide application after sowing but numerically, the highest grain yield (1619 kg/ha) and (1472kg/ha) was recorded in W1 and the lowest (1601 kg/ha) and (1470kg/ha) was in W2 at Ishurdi and Faridpur, respectively. At Ishurdi, interaction between pre- sowing and post- sowing application of herbicide had significant effect on grain yield and yield contributing characters. The highest grain yield (1710 kg/ha) was obtained by T3W1 and the lowest (1490 kg/ha) was in T2W2. Where as, at Faridpur, had no significant differences on grain yield but similar trend was found, numerically the highest grain yield (1512kg/ha) was produced by T3W1 and the lowest (1435 kg/ha) was in T2W2.

To find out the effect of herbicide for controlling weed in lentil
A field experiment was conducted at Farmer’s field of Ishurdi,Pabna and FSRD site Faridpur during Rabi season of 2010-10 to find out the effect of herbicide for controlling weed in lentil. The experiment was laid out into split-plot design with 3 replications. Round up (glyphosate) was applied before 2-5 days of sowing. Untreated Control (T1), Weed free (manual control throughout)(T2) and Conventional tillage (T3) ere placed in the main plot ,and M-Clore5D (Butaclore)(W1) & Untreated (W2) were placed in the sub-plot and M-Clore5D (Butaclore) (W1) & Untreated (W2) were placed in the sub-plot The soil was sandy loam having pH 7.5-7.6. Variety used as BARI Masur 6. The unit plot size was 3m × 4m. Seeds of lentil @ 30 kg ha-1 were sown on 13 November, 2010 and harvested on 10 March, 2011. Crop management practices such as different fertilizers application, thinning and plant protection measures were done as per requirement. Weeding was done as per treatment and weed was collected as species wise at 25 DAS and 40 DAS and measured fresh and dry weight. Data on yield attributes were taken from 10 randomly selected plants per plot. All types of variable production costs were recorded to find out the net return and benefit cost ratio. The collected data were compiled and tabulated properly for statistical analysis. Analysis of variance was done with the help of computer package MSTAT-C program.

Fourty thousand only
It was found that conventional tillage with M-Clore5D ( Butaclore )application just after sowing is effective for weed control in lentil cultivation for higher yield.
