A field experiment was conducted at RARS, Rahmatpur, Barisal during Rabi season of 2012-13 to evaluate the performance of lentil genotypes/lines for searching high yielding and disease resistant variety. Six entries of lentil viz. BD-3804, BD-3818, BD-3932, BD-3974, BD-4013, BD-4028, and two check varieties BARImasur-1 and BARImasur-7 were evaluated. Results revealed that all the lines statistically similar except BARImasur-1 in foot rot but yield under study were significantly different among the genotypes. The line BD-3974 gave the highest yield (1459 kg/ha) followed by BD-3818 and BD-3932 and low foot rot disease during 2011-12 and 2012-13. The lowest mean yield (897 kg ha-1) was recoded in BARImasur-1. So, the line BD-3974, BD-3818 and BD-3932 may be selected for next year PYT.

To evaluate lentil germplasm against foot rot
A field experiment was conducted at RARS, Rahmatpur, Barisal during Rabi season of 2012-13 for searching foot rot disease resistant variety. Six entries of lentil (previously selected from 200 lines in the Ist year) viz. BD-3804, BD-3818, BD-3932, BD-3974, BD-4013, BD-4028, and two check variety BARImasur-1 and BARImasur-7 were evaluated. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The line was 2.5m long and spacing was 30cmx10cm. Seeds were sown in the rows on 25-11-2012. Two weeding were done at 25 days and 45 days after sowing. The crop was harvested within March 04. Data on yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot. Disease reaction and grain yield was recorded from the whole plot and analyzed by using MSTAT-C.
Annual Report
The tested lentil variety/genotypes differed significantly from each other in respect of yield and statistically similar in all genotypes except BARImasur-1 in both the year under sick plot condition. The data are presented in Table 1. In 2011-12, percent foot rot ranged from 29.00 – 56.00. The highest foot rot was observed in BARImasur-1 and the lowest in BD-3974 and BD-3804. In 2012-13, percent foot rot ranged from 32.00 – 66.50. The highest foot rot was observed in BARImasur-1 and the lowest in BARImasur-7, BD-3974 and BD-3818. Average the lowest foot rot percent in both the years was observed in BD-3974 and BD-3818. The yield varied from 910.00 to 1421 kg/ha during 2011-12. The highest grain yield was recorded from BD-3974 followed by BD-BARImasur-7 and BD-3818. The lowest grain yield was recorded in BARImasur-1 followed by BD-3804 and BD-4028. In 2012-13, the highest grain yield was recorded in BD-3974 followed by BD-BARImasur-7 and BD-3932. The lowest grain yield was recorded in BD-4028 followed by BARImasur-1 and BD-3804. From two years observation low percent foot rot disease was observed in BD-3974, BD-3818 and BD-3804 and highest yield was recorded in BD-3974, BARImasur-7, BD-3818 and BD-3932.
