The study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of modified pitfall trap for rodent control. The efficiency of pitfall trap was not very good. Out of 10 rats only one rat was captured inside the modified pitfall trap.

To evaluate the efficiency of modified pitfall traps for controlling rodents.
The experiment was conducted at the rodent enclosure of Vertebrate Pest Division. BARI, Gazipur. Bandicota bengalensis was used as test animal. The animals were kept under the laboratory condition for at least 3 weeks. One rats was released into each (8x6m) of the five compartments of the out door rodent enclosure. Their average body weight was 210g. One modified pitfall trap was set in each compartment. Available attractive food was given in each trap. Pitfall trap were made by earthen pitcher and their depth about 18 inches. Water was supplied to each of the Compartment in earthen pots. Observations were made in the next morning.
