Nine exotic potato varieties and eleven hybrid clones were exposed to the infection pressure of PLRV and PVY separately with check variety (Diamant) in the cropping season of 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 at Joydebpur. In respect of two years, the exotic variety showed less infection to PVY but higher infection showed promising to PLRV. The clone LB-6 showed minium PLRV and PVY infection followed by 7.12 and LB-7.
REACTION, POTATO, VARIETIES , CLONAL HYBRIDS, VIRUS
To evaluate some exotic varieties and clones against PLRV and PVY under infection pressure to select resistant source(s).
A total of nine exotic potato varieties and eleven hybrid clones were exposed to the infection pressure of PLRV and PVY separately with check variety (Diamant) at Joydebpur, Gazipur during 2012-13. Two separate experiments a) one for PLRV and b) one for PVY were conducted with 3 replications. In the first season (2010-11) along with each test variety/line, one row of the respective virus infected tubers was planted as infection source. In the 2nd season (2011-12), cold stored tuber samples were planted in the field at Joydebpur following the same design except infected rows. Recommended doses of fertilizers (N: P2O5: K2O: S @ 160:100:160:20 Kg/h) were applied and other agronomic practices were done accordingly. The crop was planted on 16. 11. 2012 and harvested on 22. 02. 2013. Data on percent PLRV and PVY infection and germination were taken and analysed with MSTATC.
