Baby napkin, which are available in the local market are sold minimum at 30/- (TK)per piece which is beyond the purchasing capacity of the lower and middle class family. For this reason, different sizes of low cost hygienic baby napkins which are environment friendly are produced from chemically modified jute fiber and their socio-economic feasibility were studied. The price of produce napkins were lower compared to the cotton napkin. This research project will be helpful to eliminate the poverty by creating a new field of job and will upgrade the economy of the country particularly in the jute sector. So, it can be clearly said that a new field of diversified uses of jute will disclose.

To produce  cost effective baby napkin 

Collected raw jute fibers were chemically modified to prepare absorbent jute.These absorbent jute fiber can absorb more water compared to raw jute and remain dry for longer period. Sliver was prepared using chemically modified jute fiber. Finally, different sizes of baby napkins were prepared and their socio-economic feasibility were studied.

1-6 months, 6 months-1 year, 1-2 years,and 2-3 year sizes baby napkins were produced using chemically modified jute fiber whose price were lower compared to commercially available exported baby napkins in local market.As jute is a natural low cost fiber the total cost of jute based baby napkins were lower.
