Thirty one exotic potato varieties including check variety Diamant were exposed to the infection pressure of PLRV and PVY in the cropping season of 2010-11 and 2011-12 at Joydebpur. PLRV and PVY infection was varied significantly during both years. In 2010-11, one variety HZ00-223 found free from PLRV infection and the lowest infection observed in Lambada (1.88%), Bellarossa (2.22%) and Suraya (3.04%). Two varieties namely, Toluca and YP02-043 found free from PVY infection. The varieties Albata, Bellarosa, Everest, Ewclina, Lambada, Romanze, Soraya and Zorba showed the lowest infection which was less than 3.0% to PVY infection. In 2011-12, the lowest infection of PLRV found in Lambada. Similarly, the lowest infection of PVY found in Lambada, Albata, Bellarossa, Everest, Ewclina, Labadia and YP 02-043 which was below 5%. In respect of two years, the variety Lambada found to be better for resistance to PLRV and PVY with minimum virus infection followed by HZOO-223 and Ewclina.

Pest Management
To evaluate some exotic varieties against PLRV and PVY under infection pressure to select resistant source(s).
A total of thirty one exotic varieties including popular variety Diamant were exposed to the infection pressure of PLRV and PVY at Joydebpur, Gazipur during 2009-10 and 2010-11 cropping seasons. Two separate experiments a) one for PLRV and b) one for PVY were conducted with 3 replications. In the first season (2009-10) along with each test variety/line, one row of the respective virus infected tubers was planted as infection source. In the 2nd season (2010-11), cold stored tuber samples were planted in the field at Joydebpur following the same design except infected rows. Recommended doses of fertilizers (N: P2O5: K2O: S @ 160:100:160:20 Kg/h) were applied and other agronomic practices were done accordingly. The crop was planted on 16. 11. 2011 and harvested on 22. 02. 2012. Data on percent PLRV and PVY infection and germination were taken and analysed with MSTATC.
