Twelve indigenous potato varieties and a check variety Diamant was used for maintaining indigenous potato varieties at Joydebpur. None of the variety showed free from PLRV and PVY infection under field condition. However, all varieties infected with PLRV and PVY and percent infection of the varieties varied ranged from 1.89 to 20.15 % for PLRV and 2.78 to 28.49% for PVY under the field condition. The lowest infection of PLRV was found in Sadaguti (1.89%) and PVY found in Lalpakri (2.78%). The rest varieties showed more than 5.0% infection for both viruses. The check ‘Diamant’ exhibited the PLRV by 5.03% and PVY by 3.36%.

Pest Management
To select the suitable indigenous potato varieties against virus to the farmer’s cultivation.
Twelve indigenous potato varieties and a check variety Diamant were exposed in the field at Joydebpur, Gazipur. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. Tubers were planted in the field at Joydebpur on 1 December 2011. Recommended doses of fertilizers (N: P2O5: K2O: S @ 160:100:160:20 Kg/h) were applied and other agronomic practices were done accordingly. The crop was harvested on 20 March 2012. Data on percent germination, virus (PLRV and PVY) infection were taken accordingly and analyzed statistically
