Yield and Quality Performance of the Cultivated and Non-cultivated Cotton Varieties.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Field trials were established at 4 (four) cotton research station situated in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Jessore and Gazipur during the season 2011-12. The entries were: CB-1,CB-2,CB-3, CB-4, CB-5, CB-6, CB-7, CB-8, CB-9, CB-10,CB-11 & CB-12.The highest yield was recorded in CB-12 (2678 kg/ha) with high GOT% (41.45%) where as the lowest yield was observed in CB-10 (2088 kg/ha).

Objectives:

The objective of this experiment is to evaluate the performance of released varieties in different locations.

Methodology:

Field trials were established at Cotton Research Center, Mahigonj, Rangpur and other three Regional Cotton Research, Training and seed Multiplication Farm at Dinajpur, Jessore and Gazipur during the season 2011-12. Twelve released varieties viz. CB-1, CB-2, CB-3, CB-4, CB-5, CB-6, CB-7, CB-8, CB-9, CB-10, CB-11 & CB-12 were included in this trials. The unit plot size was 10m × 7.2 m and plant spacing was 90 cm ×45 cm. Application of fertilizer, gap filling and all other intercultural operations were performed according to the recommendation of CDB. By using integrated pest management practices, the pest was kept under ETL. At the moisture stress, irrigation was applied. Data were collected from 10 (ten) randomly selected plants for yield contributing characters and yield data was recorded from unit plot.Statistical analysis was done by MSTAT.

Achievement/Findings:

The highest yield was found in CB-12(2678 kg/ha) which was followed byCB-5 (2298kg/ha). At Mahiganj Center the highest and the lowest yield was exhibited by CB-11 and CB-8 at Sadarpur the highest and the lowest yield was found in CB-12 and CB-11 respectively. At Sreepur the variety CB-8 produced the highest yield where as CB-5 produced the lowest. At Jagadishpur CB-12 and CB-4 produced the highest and the lowest seed cotton respectively
