All the treatments reduced stem rot, tuber rot and PDI significantly over control except applying Urea as @ 400 kg/ha. Significantly lower stem rot was recorded by other treatments which was statistically similar. The minimum tuber rot of 13.09% was recorded by T. harzianm as seed treatment and T. harzianum @ 75 g/line. Among the chemicals Vitavax as soil drench performed better compared to other chemicals but it showed statistically insignificant with T5 (Homai) and T9 (Vitvax as seed treatment). More or less similar trend became evident in case of PDI of tuber rot. In relation to infected tuber per plot by number and weight, there were no significant difference among the treatments of T. harzianum @ 60g/line, T. harzianum @ 75 g/line, T. harzianm as seed treatment and Vitavax as drench. Significantly higher yield was also harvested from T. harzianm as seed treatment.

To find out suitable chemical(s) and to explore the effectiveness of antagonist, Trichoderma to combat the disease.
The experiment was conducted at Joydebpur using seed tuber of potato variety, Cardinal. Whole tuber was planted in 3.0 x 3.0 m unit plot. There were 11 treatments having three replications. The treatments were:
T1 = T. harzianum @ 60 gm/line T7 = Savlon as soil drench (3%)
T2 = T. harzianum @ 75gm/line T8 = Urea 400 kg/ha
T3 = T. harzianum as seed treatment T9 = Vitavax as seed treatment (0.2%)
T4 = Bavistin as soil drench (01%) T10 = Vitavax as soil drench (0.2%)
T5 = Homai as soil drench (0.2%) T11 = Control
T6 = Savlon as soil drench (0.2%)
Trichoderma was applied in soil at two installment (first one at planting and rest one after 50 DAP) while seed treatment was followed 48 hours before planting having a concentration of more than 28,00,000 spores/ml. Vitavaz (0.2%), Bavistin (0.1%), and Savlon (2.0% and 3.0%) where applied as soil drench after 50 DAP. Recommended doses of NPKS were applied in all the treatments except T8 where more urea fertilizer was supplemented than recommended one (325 kg/ha). Design was RCBD.

The antagonist Trichoderma harzianm as seed treatment and the chemical Vitavax assoil drench (0.2%) performed better in disease reduction and higher yield.
