All types of bleaching powder reduced bacterial wilt under both the locations. Between two locations, the wilt incidence was comparatively low at Bogra than Comilla. The effect of SBP in reducing wilt incidence was statistically similar and found lower incidence at both locations under the treatments SBP 12 kg/ha (USA), SBP 20 kg/ha (Indo), SBP 20 kg/ha (India) and SBP 20 kg/ha (Japan) compared to SBP 20 kg/ha (Korea), SBP 100 kg/ha (B.D) and Control. More or less similar trend became evident in case of PDI. Regarding tuber yield significantly higher yield was obtained from SBP- Indonesia and SBP Japan at both the locations and they were statistically similar, Economic analysis indicated that the maximum net return was obtained when SBP from Indonesia source was used followed by Japan and India.

To find out the effectiveness of different source of stable bleaching powder to control bacterial wilt
The experiment was conducted in wilt infested potato field located at Bogra and Comilla, with six sources of bleaching powder, having varied concentration of chlorine. The sources were: USA (80%), Indonesia (60%), India (35%), Korea (17%) and Bangladesh (not stable). Unit plot size was 3.0 x 3.0 m. Row to row and plant to plant spacing was 60 and 25 cm, respectively. Potato variety Cardinal was used as seed material. Cut tuber was used as planting material. Recommended dose of fertilizers were used. There were seven treatments, they were:
T1 = SBP 12 kg/ha (USA); T2 = SBP 20 kg/ha (Indo); T3 = SBP 20 kg/ha (India); T4 = SBP 20 kg/ha (Japan); T5 = SBP 20 kg/ha (Korea); T6 = SBP 100 kg/ha (B.D); T7 = Control.
SBP was incorporated in furrows at planting during fertilizer application. Design was RCBD having three replications. The price of SBP per kg was Tk. 1200, 260, 150, 250, 75 and 20/- respectively, for USA, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea and Bangladesh. The market price of potato was considered Tk 3/- per kg of potato. Data were recorded on wilt incidence, PDI, yield and finally economic analysis was computed.
