Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An auxiliary device called recycling device for minimization of wastage of jute yarns and preservation of the sample at the time of measurement of PMD of jute yarn of different counts design and constructed. The device has two panels, one is mechanical and the other is electrical control panel. The mechanical panel was fabricated from a mechanical workshop and the electrical panel was fabricated fro, an electrical farm and most of the optimization works were performed at BJRI with the help of fabricators. All the components were fabricated for working smoothly in room temperature. The device thus fabricated for working has been tested for helping the PMD meter for rewinding and preserving the sample for repetition of the irregularity information of jute yarn for the production of regular types of yarns as well as better quality of finishing fabrics. The machine will be used mainly in the testing laboratory of Jute Research Institute and jute Industries

Objectives:

1. Development of a recycling device for minimization of wastage of yarn after PMD measurement of jute yarns

2. To reserve the yarn sample for repetition of the test.

Methodology:

At first the design and drawing of PMD meter were prepared. The following stage was fabrication and fitting. In this stage handle with spool, 3 set of pulleys, steel basement for motor position, pressure bearing and weight for tension, groove lifter, bracket, spring etc and auto cutter and auto contract were fabricated. The final work of this stage was electroplating and docupainting were done for the mechanical system. The 3rd stage of the work was fabrication of the electrical pane. Finally the machine parameters were optimized. The optimization was done in three different ways. Firstly, the mechanical system such as pulleys, shafts, bearings stands etc were optimized. Secondly, the motor speed adjusted for synchronization of pulling rate. After that electrical circuit parameter were optimized for smooth running of the apparatus. Finally, machine parameters were standardized and PMD of different yarns were collected.

Achievement/Findings:

The fabrication, fitting and optimization of machine parameter completed within the time, sample were tested using the machine and worked better. The machine used with the existing PMD meter of BJRI and PMD of about 15 types of yarn sample were measured successfully. The machine is now workable for PMD measurement of both small and large spool of yarns.
