Four CIP clones along with JSP-1 were tested at Joydebpur,Bogra, Jessore, Pahartali and Jamalpur against phenotypic and yield contributing characters. The mean marketable tuber yield was found the highest in CIP 441132 (31.06 t/ha), followed by JSP-1(30.29 t/ha) and the lowest (20.88 t/ha) marketable tuber yield obtained by CIP 194573.9. The maximum dry yield (8.98 t/ha) was obtained by CIP 441132 and the minimum dry yield CIP 194573.9 (4.73 t/ha). Considering the yield and yield contributing other factors two CIP clones namely, CIP 441132, CIP 194513.15, CIP 440267.2 and JSP-1 were selected for next year trial.

Selection of high yielding, dry fleshed and carotene containing sweet potato clones.

The experiment was conducted at Joydebpur, Bora, Jessore, Pahartali and Jamalpur during 2011-12 cropping season. Four CIP clones (selected from last year evaluation) with JSP-1 (promising line collected from Jamalpur) were included in the study along with BARI SP-8 and BARI SP-9. Vines of clones were planted on 10th November, 2011 in the field having a plot size 3.0 x 3.0 m and replicated thrice following randomized block design. The crop was fertilized with recommended doses with necessary intercultural operation. The crop harvested on 17th April, 2012. Data on phenotypic characters, yield and yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants.
