A field experiment was conducted at experimental plot of BSPC, Debiganj during Rabi season 2009-10 to identify the sweet potato genotypes for resistance / tolerance to the sweet potato Weevil. The percentage of root damage by number ranged from 12.03 to 28.36. The performance of several genotypes was similar. There are significant variabilities in the rates of weevil infestations among the genotypes

BSPC, Debiganj, Panchagarh
To select the sweet potato genotypes resistance / tolerance to the weevil.
The study was conducted in the experimental field of BSPC, Debiganj, Panchagarh. Twenty three genotypes/variety of sweet potato were included in the study. The experiment was setup following the Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Each unit plot was 12m × 3m; the spacing between row to row and plant to plant were 60 cm and 30 cm, respectively. Fertilizers were used as per recommended doses (Urea 140 kg/ha, TSP 100 kg/ha and MP150 kg/ha). The crop was planted on 03. 12. 2010. Irrigation was given twice. At harvest on 12 .05 .2010.the following data were collected; percentage of root damage by number and weight, and yield of infested and non-infested roots.
Annual Report-2009-10, TCRC
20,000/-
The performance of several genotypes was similar. There are significant variabilities in the rates of weevil infestations among the genotypes. The highest damage was observed in BARI-sp 4 while the lowest in CIP-440024.
