Five inorganic biological agent and botanical pesticides such as Neem seed kernel (NKS) soacked water (500 gm NKS in 10L of water), Neem oil @5 ml/L of water with 5 gm detergent, trix or soap water @ 5ml/L hot water, Fyphanon 57EC @ 2.1 m. /L of water and Chroysopa @ 4000-6000 eggs per hectare were tested against potato aphids at Joydebpur during 2006-07. Among these pesticides. Neem oil and Neem Seed Karnel were more effective in controlling the potato aphids which are also better for environment.

Pest Management
To test the efficacy of some pesticides in controlling the potato aphids
The research was conducted at Joydebpur following RCBD design with three replications. Tubers of Diamant variety were used as planting materials. Unit plot size was 3m x 3m maintaining a spacing 60 cm x 25 cm. Fertilizer were used as per recommended dose as and when necessary. The experiment was set on 9.11.06. Six treatments viz. Neem seed kernel (NKS) saocked water (500gm NKS in 10L of water), Neem oil @ 5 ml/L of water with 5 gm detergent, Trix or soap water @ 5 ml/L hot water, typhoon 57EC @ 2.1 m./L of water, Chroysopa @ 4000-6000 eggs per hectare and water as control were included in the study. There was an untreated control. Spraying was done twice. The first spraying was done when the aphids were noticed in the field, while the second spraying was done after 20 days of first spraying. Before every spraying aphid counts were made from five randomly selected plants. Aphid data were also collected after 24 hours and 48 hours of each spraying from five randomly selected plants.
