To find out the appropriate treatment combination against late blight of potato, an experiment was conducted at BSPC, Debiganj, Panchagarh using two variety (Raja and Diamant) comprising 5 different treatments. Between the two varieties higher yield was obtained in variety Diamant in spite of higher PDI. The lowest PDI and highest yield was obtained form variety Diamant with 2 sprays in early planting. In Bogra, there were significant variations among the treatments on % foliage infection and yield of potato were observed. Treatment T3 (Early planting Ist Dithane 2nd secure) in combination with Raja and treatment, T1 [Early planting (15-22 November) with 1 spray], T2 (Early planting 1 spray Secure) and T3 (Early planting Ist Dithane 2nd secure) in combination with Diamant performed excellent. Maximum yield was found from T3 (Early planting Ist Dithane 2nd secure) combination with Diamant (29.59 ton/ha) which is similar to T3 with Raja, T1 [Early planting (15-22 November) with 1 spray] with Diamant and T2 (Early planting 1 spray Secure) with Diamant.

To locate the most effective integration but economic means for late blight management
The experiment was conducted at BSPC, Debiganj and TCRSC, Bogra during the Rabi season of 2007-2008. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replications. In the main plots there were two varieties (Raja and Diamant). In the sub plots there were 5 treatments viz. T1=Early planting (15-22 November) with 1 spray Dithane, T2= Early planting 1 spray Secure, T3 = Early planting Ist Dithane 2nd secure, T4= early planting (no spray) and T5= Late planting (30 November to 7 December) without spray. Spraying was started just after initiating of disease symptom. In case of two sprays the 2nd spray was applied 10 days after 1st spray. The unit plot size was 3m x3m, where 60 cm x25cm row and plant spacing were maintained. First data were taken on disease severity after 10 days of 2nd spray and 2nd data after 80 DAP following 1-9 rating scale by randomly selecting 20 plants from each plot and converted to PDI (Percent disease Index) at Debiganj. In Bogra data was taken one time on disease severity and converted to % foliage infection. Crops were harvested after 90 DAP.
