Five inorganic, biological agent and botanical pesticides such as Neem seed kernel (NKS) soacked water (500 gm NKS in 10 L of water), Neem oil @ 5ml /L of water with 5 g detergent, Trix or soap water @ 5 ml/L of hot water, Fyphanon 57EC @ ml/L of water and Chroysopa @ 4000-6000 eggs per hectare were tested against potato ahid at Joydebpur during 2006-07 and 2007-08. Among these pesticides, Neem oil and Neem seed Karnel were more effective in controlling the potato aphid in both years which are also better for environment.

Pest Management
To develop of an Eco-Friendly management approach against aphids of potato
This study was conducted at Joydebpur following RCBD design with three replications. Tubers of Diamant variety were used as planting materials. Unit plot size was 3m x 3m maintaining a spacing 60 cm x 25cm. Fertilizers were used as per recommended dose as and when necessary. The experiment was set on December 01, 2007 for current research. Six treatments viz. Neem seed Kernel (NKS) soacked water (500gm NKS in 10 L of water), Neem oil @ 5 ml/L of water with 5 gm detergent, Trix or soap water @ 5ml/L of hot water, Fyphanon 57EC @ 2 ml/L of water, Chryosopa @ 4000-6000 eggs per hectare were included in the study. There was an untreated control. The spraying was done when the aphids were noticed in the field. Before spraying, aphid counts were made five randomly selected plants. Aphid data were also collected after 24 hours and 48 hours of spraying from five randomly selected plants.
