A field experiment was conducted at the farmers’ field of Nizpara, Kaunia, Rangpur during 2012-13 for Validating BARI developed IPM package against fruit fly in sweet gourd. IPM package (Sanitation + Sex pheromone) resulted 84.27% reduction of fruit damage and 29.67% yield increase over farmers’ practice (Spraying of only insecticides). IPM package also provided higher net income (258760 Tk/ha) than farmers practice (167612 Tk/ha).

To observe the performance of the package in a large scale among the farming community.

The experiment was carried out at the farmers’ field of Nizpara, Kaunia, Rangpur during 2012-13 for evaluating IPM package against fruit fly in sweet gourd. The experiment was laid out with 6 dispersed replications. The unit plot size was 2.5 hectare and total area was 15 hectare. There were two treatments viz. T1: IPM Package: Sex Pheromone trap + sanitation and T2= Farmers practice (spraying of Sevin 85SP (Carbaryl) 6 times and Ripcord 10EC (Cypermethrin) 3 times). The pheromone traps ware placed in the field on 27 February, 2013. Farmers practice plot was placed 500 m away from the sex pheromone plots. All data were collected accordingly and subjected to statistical analysis.
