Three varieties namely, Laura, Lady Rosetta and Diamant were evaluated at Baskhali, Chittagong, Kuakata, Patuakhali& ARS, Satkhira during 2012-13 for their suitability against salt tolerance. Among the studied variety Diamant gave highest yield (26.30 t/ha) at Satkhira followed by Lady Rosetta (26.13 t/ha) at Kuakata, Patuakhali and Laura (25.29 t/ha) at Baskhali, Chittagong which showed their potentiality against salinity than those of other germplasms/varieties with salinity level of 3.61 to 10.74ds/m.

i) To validate the yield of salt tolerant genotypes at different saline areas

ii) To find out the suitable genotypes different saline areas

Three potato varieties were evaluated for salt tolerance trial at three different locations namely Baskhali, Chittagong; Kuakata, Patuakhali & ARS, Satkhira. The potato varieties namely, V1= Laura, V2=Lady Rosetta and V3=Diamant were included in this trial. Potato tubers were planted at a spacing of 60 cm X 25 cm under plot size of 3 m x 3 m. The experiment was designed in Randomized Block Design with five replications. Tubers were planted on 06 December at Satkhira, 10 December at Kuakata, Patukhali and 20 December at Baskhali, Chittagong.Fertilizers were applied @ 325-220-250-120 kg/ha of Urea, TSP, MP and Gypsum, respectively. Full amount of TSP, MP and Gypsum and 50% of urea were applied as basal and the remaining amount of urea was side dressed at 35 DAP. Weeding, irrigation, earthing-up and other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. All the yield and yield contributing characters data were recorded and were statistically analyzed. The level of soil salinity was measured in different stages of plant growth in all the locations.

It was observed that Diamant, Lady Rosetta and Laura showed considerable yield around 20 t/ha and above in the three locations except Laura at Satkhira (14.29 t/ha). Considering the results, the experiment may be repeated in next year for the recommendation of variety/varities for saline areas.
