Analysis and Evaluation of Mechanical/textile Properties of Fine Jute Yarn.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Performance of the yarns produced bu the modified machine were analyzed. Suitability of the machine for production of fine jute yarn. identification of fibre and suitable spindle speed were determine through this experimental work.

Objectives:

Performance analysis of fine count jute yarn produced by BJRI developed modified ring spinning machine.

Methodology:

An apron draft spinning machine was modified into ring system. BTB and BWC jute fibres were used for production of yarn. Spindle speed of the experimental machine was varied from 6000 rpm to 8000 rpm. The modified machine produced fine jute yarn of 103.5 tex. Different textile properties such as load at break, strain, tenacity, textile modulus, quality ratio etc of the yarn were tested by the universal testing machine, Instron.

Achievement/Findings:

BWC and BTB jute fibre were used in the experiment. BTB jute fibre showed better quality ratio than BWC jute fibre at same spindle speed. Yarns produced at 8000 rpm spindle speed showed the maximum quality ratio. At 8000 rpm BTB fibre produced yarn of 95% quality ratio whereas BWC fibre produced yarn of 58.8% quality ratio. It indicates that BTB jute fibre is more suitable speed for 103.5 text jute yarn. On the other hand, CV% of quality ratio was lower i.e. 17.0 of the yarn spun at 7000 rpm than that of yarn at 8000 rpm i.e. 31.5. Textile properties of the yarns were found satisfactory.
