Adaptive trials with new potato varieties were conducted at sixteen districts to promote as well as to know the farmers acceptance about the new potato varieties. On average of fifteen locations, BARI Alu- 30 (Meridian) yielded the highest of 34.28 t/ha followed BARI Alu-7 (Diamant), BARI ALU-31 (Sagitta) and BARI Alu-25 (Asterix). Considering size, shape, and colour, farmers showed their keen interest about the variety BARI Alu- 30 (Meridian), BARI Alu- 31 (Sagitta), BARI Alu-34 (Laura), BARI Alu-29 (Courage), BARI Alu- 28 (Lady Rosetta), BARI Alu-13 (Granola) and seedling tuber of BARI TPS-1 as a new one in different region.

To popularize the newly released improved potato varieties

The experiment was conducted at fifteen districts with the collaboration of OFRD, BARI and Department of Agricultural Extension. Under the trial varieties; BARI Alu-13 (Granola), BARI Alu-25 (Asterix), BARI Alu- 28 (Lady Rosetta), BARI Alu-29 (Courage), BARI Alu- 30 (Meridian), BARI Alu- 31 (Sagitta), BARI Alu-34 (Laura) and BARI TPS-1 were included. BARI Alu-7 (Diamant) and BARI Alu-8 (Cardinal) were used as cheek. In each district the trial was replicated 2 to 4 locations. The unit plot size for each variety was 6 m x 4 m. Whole tubers were planted with a spacing of 60 cm X 25 cm. Seeds were sown from November 15 to December 15, 2012 Fertilizers and other management practices were followed as per TCRC recommendation.
