Optimization of the Machine Parameter of the Modified Ring Spinning Machine from Flyer Spinning Machine for Making Fine Jute Yarn.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The modified flyer spinning machine of BJRI is suitable to produce fine jute yarn of 103 tex. Now it is very much important to reduce the production cost by optimizing its processing parameters. At present, the machine is facing a problem of yarn breakage which increase the production cost. So, it is necessary to minimize the yarn breakage by optimizing its spindle speed, ring size and traveller size. The international market price of fine jute yarn is 3-4 times higher than those of the coarse yarn. So, the yarn cost would be reducing through successful implementation of the proposed project. A number of raw materials such as rail, spindle, ring, tension pulley, bearing roller etc purchased for modification of the spinning machine. Thereafter, fabrication of spare parts/components and fittings/fixation were completed. After modification of the ring spinning different number of experiment were done by varying twist, traveler size, draft, ring size and spindle speeds for the optimization of the parameters. Objectives:

Development, fabrication and modification of machinery and instrument for processing of jute and other textile materials.

Methodology:

Different raw materials such as rail, spindle, ring, tension pulley, bearing roller etc. were purchased. Fabrication of spare parts/components and fittings/fixation completed. After modification of the ring spinning different number of experiment were done varying twist, traveler size, draft, ring size and spindle speeds for the optimization of the parameters. The input sliver for the modified ring spinning machine was 70-80 lb/spy. The suitable sliver was prepared by controlling the back processing machinery. A number of trials were conducted for optimization of each trial. Production performance of the machine and quality of produced yarn were analyzed. Optimum parameter was taken on the basis of maximum production and yarn quality.

Achievement/Findings:

Firstly, it was found that the optimum draft of the modified ring Spinning machine for making 100 tex fine jute yarn is 16-20. Thereafter, the optimum twist was varied for variation of linear density of jute yarn 9 for 100tex jute yarn. In addition the optimum speed for 100 tex jute yarn is 8000 rmp and it depends on the linear density of the yarn. Finally, it was found that the optimum ring size is 78 mm; optimum Traveler size is 1.0 and the productivity of the machine increases with higher spindle speed.
