Production of Union Fabrics of Different Designs Using Blended Yarns of Jute as Weft and Cotton Yarn as Warp.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This project is mainly conducted to measure physio-mechanical properties of different structural designs of diversified fabrics. All related parameters-breaking load, draping, cover factor, stiffness and thermal conductivity etc. were measured as per standard test method. In case of thermal conductivity adequate precautions were taken to control the humidity and temperature of the room to get the accuracy of the tested result. Finally, comparing the physical properties of the experimental samples, reversing creepe fabric is most suitable than satin and diamond fabric for the commercial production.

Objectives:

To evaluate the physio-mechanical properties of diversified fabrics by introducing different structural designs of weaving. Bangladesh is the largest producer of jute fibre in the world. But now-a-days it is facing tough competition with synthetic fibres which is severe harmful for the environment. In that case natural fibre, cotton and jute cotton blended yarn will be used to produce diversified products with fancy and decorative design to create new markets locally through out the country and as-well-as in the foreign country.

Methodology:

The work will be performed in the following sequences. i) Review of the literature. ii) Collection of jute and jute blended yarn from spinning department. iii) Collection of two-ply cotton yarn from the market. iv) Preparation for pre-beaming of warp yarn. v) Production of fabrics of different designs with structural variation in Rapier Loom. vi) Study of the physical properties of the fabrics in weaving, testing and textile physics division. vii) Preparation of report.

Achievement/Findings:

The experiment was performed in order to assess the effect of physical properties by introducing different structural designs of weaving. All resultant parameters of breaking load, draping, cover factor and stiffness of reversing creepe fabric are higher than satin fabric and diamond fabric though weight (gm/sq meter) of reversing creepe fabric is lower than the both satin and diamond fabric. It is seen that the thermal conductivity of reversing creepe fabric is remarkably lower than the both satin and diamond fabric though thickness of reversing creepe fabric is higher than the both fabric. But the thermal resistance of diamond fabric is higher than the satin and reversing creepe fabric From the above discussion it is clear that there is a great impact of structural designs of weaving on the physical properties of the fabric. So, for the bulk production all these experimental data have to consider.
