Evaluation of Segregating Lines of Tossa Jute

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was under taken at BJRI,Dhaka abd JAES,Manikganj in 2012. Previously produced thirty nine F2, four F₃, six F₄, eleven F₅ and nine F₆ were sown at BJRI,Dhaka and JAES,Manikganj in 15-03-2012.The materials were sown having three rows of three meter length maintaining RCBD. Among the thirty nine F₂, four F₃, six F₄, eleven F₅ and nine F₆ plants, only twenty four F₂, three F₃, four F₄, five F₅ and five F₆ plants were selected for next year selection on the basis of leaf shape, stem and stipule colour.

Objectives:

To determine transferable character how much recurs or not

To determine character is reproducible or not

Methodology:

Hybridization is the most important method of crop improvement. Hybrid lines are heterozygous and it need selfing by growing generation up to F₆ for selection a desirable homozygous one as a variety. Previously produced thirty nine F₂, four F₃, six F₄, eleven F₅ and nine F₆ were sown at BJRI, Dhaka abd JAES,Manikganj in 15-03-2012.The materials were sown having three rows of three meter length maintaining RCBD. Proper intercultural operations and agronomic practices were done for maintaining the crop. Seeds will be collected on individual plan basis.Top cutting of the selected plants will be done in earthen pots in the green house premises and allowing selfing for getting pure bred lines.The produced seed were collected as pot-wise and separately. Morphologically observing the crop crucially specially leaf shape,stem and stipule colour.
