Effect of Imidacloprid on the Management of Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Virus (mymv) of Mungbean Through Vector Management

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted in the field of Plant Pathology Division, BARI, Joydebpur, Gazipur during kharif season. Chemicals of Imidacloprid group namely, Gaucho 70 WS and Admire 200 SL were used as seed treatment @ 5g/kg and foliar spray @ 0.5ml/L, respectively. This combination of treatments responded positively in reducing the disease incidence of MYMV.

Objectives:

To asses the potentiality of Imidacloprid as seed treatment followed by foliar application against MYMV

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Plant Pathology field, BARI, Joydebpur, Gazipur, during March to May 2010. BARI mung-2 was used in the experiment. Seeds were treated with Gaucho 70 WS @ 5g/ kg seeds before sowing. After two weeks of sowing, Admire 200 SL @ 0.5 ml/l was applied three times at 10 days interval. Other management practices ware done as and when necessary. Plot size was 2X1meter² Design was pair plot techniques having 10 replications. Data were recorded on disease incidence and disease severity (0-9 scale).

Achievement/Findings:

Disease incidence of MYMV was higher (12.40%) in non- treated plots than treated plots (7.20%). Incase of disease severity in treated plots showed the lowest severity (3.0) than the non-treated plots (4.4). So, Seed treated with Gaucho @ 5g/kg seed and consequently three spray of Admire @ 0.5/L performed better in reducing MYMV incidence compared to non treated plants.
