Determination of Spray Schedule and Avoidable Yield Loss Due to Tikka and Rust in Groundnut

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The highest severity of Rust disease of groundnut was 69.67 in the control treatment. The highest yield 666.67 kg/plot was observed in treatment T₉= 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS and the lowest yield 216.67 kg/plot was found in control treatment.

Objectives:

To determine the yield loss of groundnut due to tikka and rust diseases
To determine efficacy of spray schedule of folicure against rust and tikka diseases.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Burirhat Farm, Rangpur during the winter season of 2006-07. BARI chinabadam 6 was used in this experiment. The experiment was set in RCB design with ten treatments viz. T₀ = Control, T₁= 50 days after transplanting (DAS), T₂=50 & 65 DAS, T₃ = 50, 65 & 80 DAS, T₄ = 50, 65, 80 & 95 DAS, T₅= 50, 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS, T₆ = 110 DAS, T₇= 95 & 110, T₈ = 80, 95 & 110 DAS and T₉= 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS with three replications. The unit plot size and spacing were maintained as 3m x 1.5m and 30 cm x 10 cm. The date of sowing and date of harvesting were 16/10/2006 and 5/06/2007. Fertilizers viz. N= 30 kg/ha, P₂O₅ = 70 kg/ha, K₂O = 50 kg/ha , S = 30 kg/ha, Zn = kg/ha 4, B= 1 kg/ha and cowdung 10 ton/ha were applied. Irrigation and intercultural operations were done as and when necessary.

Achievement/Findings:

The highest severity of Rust disease of groundnut was 69.67 in the control treatment followed by treatments T₁ = 50 days after transplanting (DAS), T₂=50 & 65 DAS and T₃ = 50, 65 & 80 DAS. There was no rust severity was found in the treatments T₄ = 50, 65, 80 & 95 DAS, T₅ = 50, 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS, T₇ = 95 & 110, T8 = 80, 95 & 110 DAS and T9= 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS. In case of Tikka disease of ground, the maximum severity 69.67 was found in control treatment and no severity was found in the treatments T₄= 50, 65, 80 & 95 DAS, T₅ = 50, 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS, T₇= 95 & 110, T₈= 80, 95 & 110 DAS and T₉= 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS. The medium severity of tikka disease was recorded in the treatments T₁= 50 days after transplanting (DAS), T₂ =50 & 65 DAS and T₃= 50, 65 & 80 DAS. Treatment T₉= 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS produced the highest yield 666.67 kg/plot which was statically identical to the treatments T₂ =50 & 65 DAS, T₃= 50, 65 & 80 DAS, T₄ = 50, 65, 80 & 95 DAS,T₅ = 50, 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS, T₆= 110 DAS, T₇ = 95 & 110 and T₈ = 80, 95 & 110 DAS. The highest yield 666.67 kg/plot was observed in treatment T₉= 65, 80, 95 & 110 DAS and the lowest yield 216.67 kg/plot was found in control treatment. Ranges of yield increased over control treatment from 15.38 to 207.69 %.
