Screening of Germplasm for Tolerant to Salinity of Tossa Jute.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was under taken at Pakhimara, Patuakhali sub-station in 2011 to isolate the salinity tolerant lines coupled with high yield.Thirty germplasms with two existing varieties namely O-9897 and BJRI Tossa pat-4(O-72) were sown having three lines of three meters length for each genotypes. Eight lines(1351,1353,1354,1365,1368,1372,1375 and 1377) were survived well at 4.54mmos/cm the growing season upto harvesting comparing Plant population,plant height,base diameter,green weight,dry fibre and stick weight, days to flowering and higher yield.

Achievement/Findings:

Eight lines(1351,1353,1354,1365,1368,1372,1375 and 1377) were survived well at 4.54mmos/cm the growing season upto harvesting, were selected on plant height,base diameter, days to flowering and higher yield basis which will be used for further breeding program.
