All The plant growth characters, like Stem ht (cm), Stem diameter (cm), plant wt (kg), Leaf length and breadth (cm), root length (cm) and total weight (kg), increased significantly over control with the application of the treatments. Simultaneously, the nematode growth parameters like gall index, no. of galls/ 100 cm roots, no of nematodes /10 cm roots, and % of root necrosis were significantly suppressed than control due to the application of various treatments. The treatment T7, which received Furadan and Poultry refuse, gave the highest plant growth in case of stem height and diameter, leaf length and breadth (cm), root length and total plant weight. The 2nd highest plant growths were resulted from the treatments, where more than one nematode suppressive agent were added than single agents, like either Furadan or Rugby supplemented with poultry refuse

To estimate the yield loss in Banana due to infection of Meloidogyne incognita.

The experiment was conducted in the pot-house of the Plant Pathology Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Joydebpur, Gazipur, during the period of April to October 2005. The seedling of Variety BARI banana–1, grown in tissue culture method were planted in poly bags having nematode infested soil and thus the seedlings were soon affected by root- knot nematodes. These two months old nematode infested seedling were planted in pot soil having different treatments. Before starting the experiment initial data on the plant growth, nematode infestation & population of nematode in soil were determined and recorded. The treatments used were given below: T1: Chemical nematicides: Rugby 10G @ 40 kg/ha (5 gm / pot). T2: Chemical nematicides: Furadan 3G @ 60 kg/ha (8 gm / pot). T3: Nembicidine a product of Neem: @ 0.5 ml/L water. T4: Pasteuria penetrans (Bacterial bioagent, (40,000, spores /g dried roots) T5: Poultry refuse @ 10 t /ha (2 kg / pot). T6: Rugby 10 G + Poultry refuse @ 10 ton/ha T7: Furadan 5 G + Poultry refuse @ 10 ton/ha T8: Poultry refuse + Neembicidine (3 ml / lit) T9: Neembicidine + Poultry refuse + Rugby 10G T10: Furadan 5G + Poultry refuse + Neembicidine T11: Control Application of the treatments: Poultry Refuses: Requisite quantities of poultry refuse @ 10 ton/ha or 2 kg/ plant was applied in each pot and allowed to decompose partially for two weeks to avoid phytotoxicity to the banana plantlets. Application of the chemical nematicides: Two nematicides Furadan 5G and Rugby 10 G were applied @ 60 and 30 Kg/ha, respectively. Each plant received 15 gm Furadan 5G and 7.5 gm Rugby 10G. Collection and Preparation of Pasteuria penetrans: The cyst forming bacterial biocontrol agent was collected from Japan. It was dried in powder form with tomato roots, containing 40,000 spores/ g powder. It was applied @ 250 mg/ plant or 10,000 spores /plant. The requisite quantity of the powder was wetted with 500 ml water and applied at the base of the plant after transplantation. Collection of Nembicidine: Nembicidine is a commercial product of neem seed extract, marked by ACI was applied @ 5 ml / 1 lit. It was applied twice 1st as basal and 2nd two weeks after transplantation of the plantlets. Primary data: Primary data was collected from the banana plants which were transplanted in the pots. Five banana seedlings were used to record the data and the following parameters were recorded: 1. Stem height (cm) 2. Leaf length and breath (cm) 3. Total plant weight (gm) 4. Root length (cm) 5. Root weight (gm) 6. No. of galls / 10 gm roots. 7. No. of nematodes / 100 gm soil 8. % Necrosis 9. Gall Index (0-9 scale) Final Data: Final data was collected from the banana plants six months after transplanting in the main earthen pots. During the data collection the following parameters were recorded: 1. Stem height (cm) 2. Stem breath (cm) 3. Leaf length (cm) 4. Leaf breath (cm) 5. Total plant weight (gm) 6. Root length (cm) 7. Root weight (gm) 8. Galls / 100 cm root 9. No. of nematodes / 10 cm root 10. % Necrosis 11. Gall Index ( 0-9 scale, Zeck, 1991)

It was observed that all the plant growth characters, like Stem ht (cm), Stem diameter (cm), plant wt (kg), Leaf length and breadth (cm), root length (cm) and total weight (kg), increased significantly over control with the application of the treatments. Simultaneously, the nematode growth parameters like gall index, no. of galls/ 100 cm roots, no of nematodes /10 cm roots, and % of root necrosis were significantly suppressed than control due to the application of various treatments. It was observed that among different treatments, the treatment T7, which received Furadan and Poultry refuse, gave the highest plant growth in case of stem height and diameter, leaf length and breadth (cm), root length and total plant weight. The 2nd highest plant growths were resulted from the treatments, where more than one nematode suppressive agent were added than single agents, like either Furadan or Rugby supplemented with poultry refuse. Results indicated that all the nematode growth characteristics significantly reduced over control due to the application of the different treatments. The lowest no. of galls, 913.6) / 10 cm roots, were resulted from the T7 treatments received Furadan and Poultry refuse, it was followed by 15.6 given by T6, which received Rugby 10G and poultry refuse. The highest no of galls / 10 cm roots were 30.4 was given by the control treatment. The lowest no of nematodes 10.4 / 10 cm roots were given by the treatment T7 and it was followed by T6 and the highest no 18.6 / 10 cm root was resulted from the control treatment.
