Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Accurate control of moisture in different stages of process results in the production of uniform yarn and fabrics and increase the production efficiency as well as in treading moisture is also important factor. But the moisture meter existing in the BJRI is not design for operating in our local climate. A fixed gain operational amplifier circuit was designed and constructed by using single integrated circuit of 531 types in combination with some active and passive circuit elements. This circuit was developed for using it in combination with a crystal oscillator and power amplifier circuit developed with the aim of constructing the portable moisture meter.

Objectives:

1.To design a power amplifier circuit.

2.To amplify the signal from radio frequency oscillator.

3.To insert the output of the amplifier to the moisture meter.

Methodology:

A power amplifier circuit was designed to amplify the signal from radio frequency oscillator constructed by the piezo-ceramic crystals of type CMR 455 in combination with the field effect transistor (FET) of type 256 LA. The power amplifier was design by using two BC 397 and two BC 337 NPN silicon transistors. A fixed gain operational amplifier circuit was design by using a single IC of type 531 in combination with some active and passive circuit elements. 2 pf capacitor opened wire twisted and together and used as a compensation capacitor between the IC lead 6 and 8. The gain of the amplifier was 50 which dropped to the output resistance of 10 kilo ohms for coupling it to the next rectifier stage. Two stages of the readings were recorded on varying frequency applied directly from the signal generator. One set of reading was taken by using (2.2±0.5) pf of capacitor and another set was noted by using an wound open wire between leads 6 and 8.

Achievement/Findings:

The crystal oscillator and power amplifier worked well and matched correctly to the input stage of the expected input stage of moisture meter. The unturned fixed gain was 50.
