Selection of F9 Progenies of White Jute.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Under this experiment thirteen progenies derived from different cross combination among the indigenous and exotic accession/varieties were grown at JAES, Manikganj. Analysis of variances revealed significant differences among the treatments in respect of green weight. Though fibre yield of thirteen progenies showed insignificant differences among the treatments but eight progenies out yielded (4.40-4.71 t/ha) the check variety CVL-1 (4.29 t/ha).

Methodology:

Thirteen progenies derived from different cross combinations among the indigenous and exotic accession/varieties were grown at JAES, Manikganj in 2008. Seeds were sown in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications having unit plot size of 2.1m x 3.0m = 6.30sq.m. At the age of 120 days, the plants were harvested and data recorded on plant population, plant height, base diameter, green weight, stick weight and fibre weight.
