Under this experiment twelve progenies (C-1549, C-5007, C-5036, C-5002, C-6726, C-5117, C-5126, C-5127, C-6786, C-5189, C-5136 and C-5149) and two check varieties CVL-1 and CVE-3 were grown at Manikganj. Analysis of variances revealed significant differences among the treatments for green weight, fibre weight and stick weight. Out of twelve progenies, eight progenies performed better yield of fibre.

To develop superior genotypes having higher yield coupled with quality fibre, early maturity, wide adaptability than the existing varieties.

Twelve progenies (1549, 5007, 5036, 5002, 6726, 5117, 5126, 5127, 6786, 5189, 5136 and 5149) and two check varieties CVL-1 and CVE-3 were grown at Manikganj in 2008. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications having 3.6m long row of three lines for each treatment within block. Data were recorded on plant height, base diameter, number of nodes, green weight, fibre weight and stick weight.
