Potentiality of different potato varieties was assessed to post harvest rottage at Joydebpur under natural and cold storage conditions. The percentage of tuber rot due to disease was increased with the increase of time under natural condition. Under natural condition, the highest rottage value was observed in the variety Quincy by 86.32% followed by lady Olympia (61.97%), Opera (60.91%), Aphrodite (60.56%), Steffi (56.94%) and Karlena (50..88%) after 180 days of storage. On the other hand, Smart showed the lowest tuber rottage (17.09%) followed by Bellini (17.75%). Alegria and Naviga showed the best appearance followed by Quincey, Elgar, Crips 4 all, Tourus, Apoline and FOCVS, whereas worse appearance was showed in Opera, Lady Olympia, Saline, Karlena, Steffi and Agila. In case of cold storage condition, the tubers rot losses was lowest in Challenger (7.5%) followed by FOCVS (14.29%) and Elger (14.64%) up to 30 days after taken out from cold storage. The highest (39.09%) values of tuber rottage were observed in Quincy followed by Apoline, Aphrodite and Lady Olympia 30 days after taken out from cold storage.

To evaluate the performance of different potato varieties against post harvest disease under natural and cold storage conditions at Joydebpur, Gazipur.

A study was conducted on the performance of newly introduced potato varieties to post harvest disease under natural and cold storage conditions. In natural condition, twenty six potato varieties were preserved in the processing shed in netted wooden rake under ambient temperature at TCRC, Joydebpur. Each Variety contained 15 tubers with different sizes. Data were recorded based on tuber rottage due to diseases (soft rot, dry rot) and high temperature, weight loss and sprouting were taken with 30 days interval and continued up to 180 DAS (days after storage). Over all performance of different varieties were graded at 180 days after storage following 1-9 scale, where 1 means very worse and 9 means best performance. Another set of experiment was conducted to observe the rottage loss under cold store condition. Twenty seven varieties were included in this trial. Tubers were kept in the BADC cold store at Kashempur, Gazipur. Data on tuber rottage by weight were taken at 2nd day of taken out from cold storage followed by 7 days interval and continued up to 30 days.

All the tested varieties were susceptible to post harvest rot up to 180 days under natural condition. Based on over all grading, Alegria and Naviga showed the best appearance followed by Quincey, Elgar, Crips 4 all, Tourus, Apoline and FOCVS, whereas worse appearance was observed in Opera, Lady Olympia, Saline, Karlena, Steffi and Agila. In case of cold storage trial, all varieties also showed susceptible to post harvest rot up to 30 days after taken out from cold store, but the values were varied by the varieties and ranged from 7.51% to 39.09%. In case of cold storage condition, the tuber rot losses was lowest in Challenger (7.51%) followed by FOCVS (14.29%) and Elger (14.64%) up to 30 days after taken out from the cold store. Whereas the tuber rottage was highest in Quincy (39.09%) followed by Apoline, Aphrodite and Lady Olympia.
