Five varieties including checks were evaluated in the trial. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with 3 replications.Twenty eight days old seedlings were transplanted with a spacing of 25 x 15 cm. Plot size was 5.0m x 6.0 m. Fertilizer @ 180:70:60:10 kg/ha Urea, TSP, MP, Gypsum and ZnS0₄ were applied with a usual split application of Urea in 4 times at 15,30 & 45 days after transplanting and MP in 2 times, two-third at final preparation and one-third at 30 days after transplanting.

The yield ranged from 3.79-5.66 t/ha with 116-139 days growth duration. H-085 gave the highest yield (5.66 t/ha) followed by H-083 (5.52 t/ha).
