Six TPS progenies introduced from CIP along with BARI TPS-1 as check were evaluated for their yield potentiality at Joydebpur, during 2009-10 crop season. Considering yield and tuber characters progenies MF-II x TS-15, ACHIRANA x TS-15, C96H-10.27 x TPS-13 and LT-8 x TS-15 seemed to be promising under Gazipur condition. Yield range of these progenies was 4.70-5.50 kg per square meter.

To identify TPS progenies suitable for Bangladesh

The experiment was conducted at Joydebpur, during the Rabi season, 2009-10. Six TPS progenies introduced from CIP and BARI TPS 1 as check was included in the study. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. The unit plot size was 2 m x 1 m with spacing of 20 × 5 cm. At Joydebpur, Planting was done during November 2009. Fertilizers were applied @ 325-220-250-120 kg/ha of Urea, TSP, MP and Gypsum respectively. Data were recorded on Plant height (cm), No of stem/hill, Foliage coverage (%), plot yield. The recorded data for different characters were analyzed statistically using MSTAT, a computer based program to find out the variation among the different genotypes by F-test. Treatment means were separated by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT).
