Management of Black Spot Disease of Ber

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted at established ber orchard of Boroichara village, Ishurdi, Pabna during 2012-13 to find out the effective fungicides in controlling black leaf spot disease of ber. Eight fungicides were Dithane M 45, Tilt 250 EC, Companion, Bavistin DF, Sulcox WP, Acrobat MZ, Folicure 250 EC and Rovral 50 WP with Control. Leaf area diseased ranged from 7.63 to 21.87%, where lowest was obtained from Companion (0.2%) sprayed plants and the highest was recorded in control treatment. Similar tendency was found for fruit area diseased by using the fungicides.

Objectives:

To find out the effective fungicides in controlling black leaf spot and fruit spot disease of Ber.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at established ber orchard of Boroichara village, Ishurdi, Pabna during 2012-13. The experiment was carried out following Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The test variety of ber was BAU kul. Eight fungicides were T₁ = Dithane M 45 (Mancozeb, 0.2%), T₂ = Tilt 250 EC (Propiconazole ,0.05%), T₃ = Companion (Mancozeb 63%+Carbendazim 12%, 0.2%), T₄ = Bavistin DF (Carbendazim, 0.1%), T₅ = Sulcox WP (Copper Oxichloride, 0.3%) T₆ = Acrobat MZ (Dimethomorph 9% WP + Mancozeb 60% WP, 0.2%), T₇ = Folicure 250 EC (Tebuconazole, 0.1%), T₈ = Rovral 50 WP (Iprodion, 0.2%) and T₉ = Control. Fungicides were sprayed four times at an interval of 10 days. Data were recorded on leaf and fruit area diseased, and disease reduction over control. The recorded data were analyzed statistically to find out the level of significance and the variations among the respective data were compared following Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT).

Leaf area diseased was significantly controlled by the fungicides diseased. Leaf area ranged from 7.63 to 21.87%, where the lowest was obtained from Companion (0.2%) sprayed plants and the highest was recorded in control treatment. The highest disease reduction over control was recorded in Companion (0.2%) with 65.11% and the lowest was recorded in Acrobat MZ (0.2%) with 9.19%. Effect of fungicides in controlling black fruit spot of Ber Fruit area diseased was significantly influenced by the fungicides. Fruit area diseased ranged from 5.65 to 16.52%, where lowest was obtained from Companion (0.2%) sprayed plants and the highest was recorded in control treatment. The highest disease reduction over control was recorded in Companion (0.2%) with 65.79% and the lowest was recorded in Acrobat MZ (0.2%) with 33.47%.
