The hybrid seeds were sown in seed beds and then planted in the field at Joydebpur for evaluation. Twenty one clones were selected from eighty six lines. Selected clones will be evaluated in PYT next year.

To select the high carotene and high dry matter containing sweet potato

Two thousand fifty nine seeds of 6 parents obtained from last year trial were scarified for 20 minutes in conc. H2SO4. Then ringed with clean water and air dried. Seeds were sown in nursery bed on 10th September, 2009. Eighty six seeds were germinated. On 20th November, 2009 vine cutting of seedling was planted in main field. The experiment was conducted in single row method. One row represent one parent. Spacing was 60 x 30 cm. The crop was harvested on 16th April, 2010. Selection was made on the basis of number, shape and size of tubers, skin and flesh colour of tubers, insect and disease infection etc.
