The experiment was carried out at TCRC, Gazipur, Jamalpur, Jessore and Bogra during March to September 2009. The treatments comprised of four advanced lines viz. JPK- 003, JPK- 007, JPK- 008, JPK-009 and the check BARI Panikachu 3. The lines showed different patterns on rhizome yield in different locations. The mean yield was highest (46.02 t/ha) in JPK 009 which was closely followed by JPK 007 (44.23 t/ha).

To select  superior line(s) for release

The experiment was carried out at TCRC, Gazipur, Jamalpur, Jessore and Bogra during March to September 2009. The treatments comprised of four advanced lines viz. V1 = JPK- 003, V2 = JPK- 007, V3 = JPK- 008, V4 = JPK - 009 and the check V5 = BARI Panikachu 3. The treatments were laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The unit plot size was 3 m × 4.5 m. The plot was fertilized with a dose of 275-180-225 kg/ha of Urea-TSP-MOP, respectively with 10 t/ha of cowdung. Full dose of cowdung and TSP were applied at final plot preparation and urea and MOP were splited equally as top dressed at 50 and 100 days after planting. The crop was planted on 16 March 2009. Other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. Data on growth, yield component and yield were recorded and were analyzed statistically and means were separated by Duncan's Multiple Range Test.
