Two advanced Mukhikachu lines viz. MK - 029 and MK - 140 along with a check var. Bilashi were evaluated at Joydebpur, Jamalpur, Jessore, Bogra and Pahartali during March to October 2009. The mean yield was highest in MK - 029 (26.56 t/ha) followed by MK - 140 (25.43 t/ha) and Bilashi (23.61 t/ha).

To select high yielding mukhikachu lines for release.

The trial was conducted at Joydebpur, Jamalpur, Jessore, Bogra and Pahartali during the Kharif season from March to October of 2009. Two advanced mukhikachu lines viz. MK - 029 and MK - 140 were compared with the check variety Bilashi. The crop was planted on 10 March 2009 following randomized complete block design with four replications. The unit plot size was 3 m × 4.5 m and spacing was 60 cm × 45 cm. The crop was fertilized with a dose of 200-125-175 kg/ha of urea-TSP-MOP, respectively and 10 t/ha of cowdung. Half of MOP and full dose of TSP and cowdung were applied in plot at final land preparation. Rest of MOP and half of urea were topdressed at 60 DAP and the rest half of urea were applied at 100 DAP. Other intercultural operations like weeding, earthing up, irrigation etc. were done as and when necessary. The crop was harvested on 26 October 2009. Data were collected on growth, yield contributing characters and yield and were analyzed statistically.
