Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Fabrics are used in our every day life. A particular type of fabric essential for a particular purpose. The construction, design and pattern for apparel fabric are not similar to the house hold used fabrics. The properties of shirting, suiting are quite different to the properties of curtain, bed sheet etc. So when we produce a particular type of fabrics, it should be kept in mind about the end use of the fabrics. Not only in the case of fabric but also in all and each type of commodities it should be considered the ultimate use of the products. On the other hand, each type of product should be cost effective in all respects. In that case fabric construction can play a vital role to produce acceptable and cost effective fabrics. The fabric construction also have an important effects on the properties of the fabrics. The present work has been taken to find out whether the fabric construction has any effect on the properties of fabric or not.

Objectives:

To study the effect of fabric construction on the properties of the fabrics.

Methodology:

For the project, three different structure of fabric were made. They are as follows: i) Plain fabric ii) 2/2 Twill fabric iii) 3/1 Diamond fabric The procedure of different types of fabrics production are as follows: a) Collection of yarn: 40 Kgs jute yarn of 8 lbs.spy. were collected from the experimental spinning mill for using in the weft side. b) Preparation of warp beam: A warp beam of 100 yds was prepared by 20/2 cotton yarn with the help of Beaming machine. c) Weaving: For weaving the fabric, the Rapier loom was used. The cotton yarn was used in the warp and the jute yarn was used in the weft. Than the fabric was made. d) Determination of the physical properties of fabrc: Different physical properties of different fabric were tested in the Testing department of BJRI.

Achievement/Findings:

Successful develop of the fabric will increase the diversified use in jute in home and abroad. It will be possible to know the particular use of particular type of fabric for an appropriate sector. The diversified use of fabric will earn the huge amount of foreign currency.
