Effect of Micronutrient and Spray Schedule of Rovral in Reducing Alternaria Blight Disease and in Increasing Yield of Radish Seed

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was conducted at RARS Ishurdi, Pabna during 2002-2003 to observe the effect of micro nutrient (MN) and spray schedule of Rovral (0.20%) on the incidence of Alternaria blight and seed yield of radish. There were two varieties, BARI Mula-1 and BARI Mula-2 and nine treatments viz., T₁ = MN + 1 Spray at 50 DAT, T₂ = MN + 2 Sprays at 45 & 75 DAT, T₃ = MN + 3 Sprays at 45, 60 & 75 DAT, T₄ = MN + 4 Sprays at 45, 60, 75 & 90 DAT, T₅ = MN + No Sprays, T₆ = No MN + no Spray, T₇ = No MN + 2 Sprays at 60 & 90 DAT, T₈ = No MN + 2 Sprays at 75 & 90 DAT and T₉= No MN + 5 Sprays at 40, 55, 70, 85 & 100 DAT. The disease severity on siliqua was lowest in T₉ (17.50%)and The highest was observed in T₆(55.00%). But leaf disease severity was highest in T₅ (27.50%). Significantly lowest disease was observed in T₉.

Objectives:

To observe the effect of micro nutrient (MN) and spray schedule of Rovral (0.20%) on the incidence of Alternaria blight and seed yield of radish.

Methodology:

An experiment was conducted at RARS Ishurdi, Pabna during 2002-2003 to observe the effect of micro nutrient (MN) and spray schedule of Rovral (0.20%) on the incidence of Alternaria blight and seed yield of radish. There were two varieties, BARI Mula-1 and BARI Mula-2 and nine treatments viz., T₁ = MN + 1 Spray at 50 DAT, T₂ = MN + 2 Sprays at 45 & 75 DAT, T₃ = MN + 3 Sprays at 45, 60 & 75 DAT, T₄ = MN + 4 Sprays at 45, 60, 75 & 90 DAT, T₅ = MN + No Sprays, T₆ = No MN + no Spray, T₇ = No MN + 2 Sprays at 60 & 90 DAT, T₈ = No MN + 2 Sprays at 75 & 90 DAT and T₉= No MN + 5 Sprays at 40, 55, 70, 85 & 100 DAT. Seed were sown on 25th October. Forty five days old stalking were transplanted on 8th December in 3.2m x 1m plots maintaining a spacing 50cm x 40cm following split plot design with three replications. The varieties were in the main plots and the treatments in the sub plots, Urea, TSP, MP and cow dung was applied as per recommendation. Two micro nutrient B and Zn were applied before transplanting @ 1 kg/ha and 2 kg/ha. Disease severity on leaves was recorded at 60 DAT and for siliqua at 105 DAT. Seed yield was recorded from the whole plot basis and converted to yield per ha. All the data were finally statistically analyzed.

Achievement/Findings:

Between the two varieties significantly more yield was obtained from V₁(1940 kg/ha). Among the treatments the disease severity on siliqua was lowest in T₉ (17.50%). The highest disease was observed in T₆ (55.00%). But leaf disease severity was highest in T₅ (27.50%). Significantly lowest disease was observed in T₉. The highest seed yield was obtained from T₉ (1749 kg/ha). The lowest yield (1298 kg/ha) was obtained from T₆. It is revealed that significantly lowest (8.33%) siliqua surface area infection were found in V₂x T₉ and the highest were observed in V₁x T₆ (60.00%). The highest yield was obtained from V₁ x T₉(2144 kg/ha) and the lowest from V₂ x T₆ (842 kg/ha).
