Study on the Management of Fusarium Wilt in Eggplant

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The field experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Hathazari, Chittagong during 20010-2011 to find out the accurate management package for controlling the fusarium wilt. Only single factor, soil amendment with Furadan 5 G showed the highest yield 23.58 t/h but showed the lowest PDI 13.29 % and Incidence 26.37 %. Single factor soil treatment, IPM-Bio-pesticide showed the highest yield 23.10 t/h and showed the lowest PDI 20.46 %and Incidence 30.59%. .Single factor soil drenching with Bavistin showed the highest yield 23.11 t/h and showed the lowest PDI and Incidence 21.16 % and 32.05% respectively. The combined effect of soil amendment versus soil treatment, Furadan 5 G and IPM-Bio-pesticide showed the highest yield 23.84 t/h. The combine effect of soil amendment and soil drenching, Furadan 5 G and Bavistin showed the highest yield 24.72 t/h and the soil treatment versus soil drenching, IPM-Bio-pesticide and Bavistin showed the highest yield 24.85 t/ h and showed the lowest disease infections viz. PDI and Incidence 14.73 % and 27.29 % respectively. The final combination of soil amendment, soil treatment and soil drenching viz. Furadan 5 G IPM-Bio-pesticide and Bavistin showed the highest yield 27.55 t/h.

Objectives:

Methodology:

The field experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Hathazari, Chittagong during 2010-2011 to find out the accurate management package for controlling Fusarium wilt of eggplant. Three factorial experiments were laid out RCBD with 3 replications. Factor A indicated soil amendment viz. A₁= Poultry Refuge @ 6 ton/ha, A₂= Mustard Oil Cake 1 ton/ h, A₃= Furadan 5 G @40 kg/ h, A₄= Stable bleaching powder @20 kg/ h, factor B indicated soil treatment viz. S₁ = Cupravit: MP (1:2) one hand/ plant, S₂ = IPM-Bio-pesticide @ 64 kg/h, S₃ = Forastin @ 2g/l, and factor C indicated soil drenching viz. D₁= Bavistin@2g/ l, D₂= Bendazim @ 2g/l, D₃= Sinozim @ 2g/ l. The experimental field was properly prepared and added recommended doses of manures and fertilizers The plots were fertilized with Cowdung , urea, TSP, MoP at the rate of 10 ton, 375 kg, 150 kg, and 250 kg per hectare respectively. All Cowdung and TSP were applied during land preparation. urea and MoP were applied with three installments 1/3rd during land preparation and remainind 2/3rd were applied at 21 and 35 days after planting. Seedlings were planted on January 06, 2011. Irrigation and weeding were done as and when necessary. Four weeks old seedlings of brinjal were carefully transplanted in 1.8. ×3 m unit plot maintaining 75cm row to row and 60cm plant to plant distance. Irrigation and weeding were done as and when necessary. The wilting data were taken following the 0-4 scale (Anon., 1974). All the recorded data were analyzed with the Analysis of Variance Technique and mean differences were estimated by Duncun’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) using a statistical Computer Packages (MSTAT).
