Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The present experiment was undertaken to know the requirement of nutrients for seed production and to know the effect of nutrients on seed quality of the variety O-72. Results showed that the highest plant height and no. of branches there were no significant differences at Manikganj and Rangpur. But in the production of seed yield it is found significant influence between the treatments. Higher rate of combination of fertilizer showed higher rate of seed yield. Highest seed yield obtained with 90-10-20-20-03-00 NPKSBMg kg/ha.

Objectives:

To study the nutrient requirement for jute seed production of the variety O-72 in late season.

Methodology:

The experiment was laid out by RCBD with three replications for late jute seed production of the variety O-72. The unit plot size was 3.0m x 3.0m, space between plots, blocks and around the field was 1.0m. There were 20cm deep drain around each plot, block and around whole plot to drain out excess rain water. Experiment was set up in the month of august in every year. Total amount of PKSB and Mg from TSP, MP, Gypsum, borax and doluchun respectively were applied to the plot at the time of sowing as per treatment. Total amount of N from urea as per treatment were applied in three equal splits-one at sowing-one at 20-25 DAS and rest at 40-45 DAS. The treatments were as follows: Treatments(N- P- K-S-B-Mg Kg/ha): T₁: 00-00-00-00-00-00 T_2: 90-10-20-00-00-00 T₃: 90-10-20-10-00-00 T₄: 90-10-20-20-00-00 T₅: 90-10-20-30-00-00 T₆: 90-10-20-20-01-00 T₇: 90-10-20-20-02-00 T₈: 90-10-20-20-03-00 T₉: 90-10-20-20-02-10 T_10:90-10-20-20-02-20
