Study on the Fertilizer Requirement of Transplanting Method of Jute Plant Top Cutting of Jute Seed Production

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted to know the fertilizer requirements by jute top cutting method for seed production at Jute seed production and Research Center, Dinajpur, BJRI with the variety O-9897 regarding fertilizer combination of five nitrogen doses (0,25,50,75kg/ha), three phosphorus doses (0,5,10kg/ha), three potassium doses (0,25,50kg/ha), three sulphur doses (0,10,15kg/ha), three zinc doses (0,4,8kg/ha and three boron doses (0,2,4 kg/ha). From the results it was observed that the highest seed yield (1.068t/ha) was obtained from T₄ (50-10-25-10-04-02 NPKSZnB kg/ha) treatment, where plant height, base diameter of pod and number of seeds per pod were highest. Results also revealed that there were no significant effect of boron and zinc in relation to seed yield.

Methodology:

The experiment was laid out in RCBD with 14 selective treatments of NPKSZnB having three replications for jute seed production through jute stem cutting (top cutting) transplanting for the variety O-9897. The unit plot size was 3.0m x 3.0m with one meter space between the blocks, plots and around the field. There were 20cm deep drain around each plot, block and around whole plot to drain out excess rain water. The following 14 selective treatment combinations of NPKSZnB were used in the experiment: Treatments(N-P-K-S-Zn-B Kg/ha)- T₁: 00-00-00-00 T2: 00-10-25-10-04-02 T₃: 25-10-25-10-04-02 T₄: 50-10-25-10-04-02 T₅: 75-10-25-10-04-02 T₆: 50-00-25-10-04-02 :T₇50-15-25-10-04-02 T₈: 50-10-00-10-04-02 T₉: 50-10-50-10-04-02 T₁₀: 50-10-25-00-04-02 T_11: 50-10-25-15-04-02 T₁₂: 50-10-25-10-00-02 T₁₃: 50-10-25-10-04-00 T₁₄: 50-10-25-10-08-04 Except urea all other fertilizer were applied as basal at the time of final land preparation. Urea fertilizer were applied in three equal splits. One dose at 20 days after transplanting (DAT) one dose at 45 DAT and the rest one before flowering stage.
