Effect of Npks on the Growth and Yield of Kenaf Advanced Breeding Line Cpi-72126

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The nutrients requirement trial on advance kenaf line CPI-72126 was conducted in saline soil at Pakhimara, Patuakhali. The results indicated significant effect of different levels of NPKS on yield and yield contributing characters over control. It is showed that highest fibre (4.188 t/ha) and stick (12.188 t/ha) yield obtained by the treatment of 80-05-30-30 NPKS kg/ha. The plant height (3.48m), base diameter (22.40mm), green weight with leaves (75.33t/ha) and green weight without leaves (59.17t/ha) also found highest with the same treatment fertilizers combination. This study clearly indicated a great prospect of treatment combination on the growth and yield of fibre production on the variety CPI-72126 in saline zone.

Objectives:

To generate a fertilizer recommendation of CPI-72126 production in saline zone

Methodology:

The experiment was laid out in RCBD with 10 treatments of NPK and S having three replications. The unit plot size was 3.0m x 3.0m with one meter space between the blocks, plots and around the field. There were 20cm deep drain around each plot, block and around whole plot to drain out excess rain water. The following ten selective treatment combinations of NPK and S were used in the experiment: Treatments(N- P-K- S (Kg/ha): T₁: 00-00-00-00 T_2: 40-05-30-10 T₃: 80-05-30-10 T₄: 120-05-30-10 T₅: 80-10-30-10 T₆: 80-15-30-10 T_7: 80-05-60-10 T_8:80-05-90-10 T_9: 80-05-30-20 T₁₀: 80-05-30-30 Half of N and full amount of P, K and S from Urea, TSP, MP and Gypsum respectively were applied to the experimental plot as per treatment design at the time of final land preparation. Remaining half of N was top dressed at the time of 45 days after sowing.
