The use of As contaminated water for irrigation may a major cause of accumulation of As in soil-plant- vegetables. It may create hazard both in soil environment and in crop quality. A major crop jute, which cultivate in different parts of Bangladesh and its leaves are taken as vegetables and fibre used for diversified products. There was no work on jute whether As affect the growth, yield or contaminated the jute leaves which are taking as vegetables. Considering the above points, this study was undertaken in greenhouse condition. Results showed that plant height was restricted due to the presence of As in soil above 5.0 ppm with the varieties CVL-1 and O-9897. But the variety OM-1 showed susceptive to As contamination. The growth of OM-1 was increased in As contaminated soil. Green biomass was also lower with the variety CVL-1 and O-9897, but the variety OM-1 produced higher biomass as the As increased.

To check the sustainability of jute varieties  as contamination.

The experiment was laidout in greenhouse of BJRI in winter season in controlled condition. Earthen pot of 10kg soil was used in RBD with the following treatments. Soil was determined as 5.0 ppm. i. RDF ii. RDF + As 10 ppm iii. RDF + As 20 ppm iv. RDF + As 40 ppm
