Popularization of the Evolved Technologies of Soil and Fertilizer Management for Quality Jute Seed Production

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An investigation was carried out about technology dissemination adoption to popularize the technologies on soil and fertilizer management for quality jute seed production. The study was comparative acceptability of face to face training with other technology dissemination materials. For this purpose farmer's training were conducted at different stations of BJRI. Especially on the program, demonstration was done about fertilizer application and management, quality jute seed production technique and soil improvement methodologies regarding research findings and dissemination the technologies to the farmers influencing to adopt them. It was observed that farmers were very much interested to directly face to face observation the methodologies and demonstrations. Farmers learnt the technologies directly by this program and their response to the training program was satisfactory and they expect that the training program should be continued in future. However this program is the best to popularize the technologies to the farmers comparing to other technology transfer program i.e. leaflet, pamphlet or books.

Objectives:

To populaize the evolved technologies among the farmer's and related personnel's on soil and fertilizer management for the production of quality jute seed by BJRI. To build up a linkage between research and extension people as well as NGO's. Documentation of the evolved technologies for the use of research, extension personnel, NGO's and policy makers.

Methodology:

The study were conducted to disseminate of the new technologies for strengthening to ensure quality jute seed production. Mature technologies were demonstrated as per technological viewpoint with a separate experiment having no fertilizer application in each location in the farmer's field. Fertilized and unfertilized experiment were conducted for sowing better performance of the technology. Field day and farmer's training were conducted in each location at mature stage of the jute plants.

Achievement/Findings:

Face to face contact and demonstration the technologies for soil and fertilizer management regarding late jute seed production considered as a good method to transfer the technologies to the farmers compare to any other methods i.e, leaflet, pamplet or books to popularize them in farmers fields.
