Requirement of Npk & S Fertilizer for Advanced Breeding Line Bjc-2142

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted to make a fertilizer recommendations of a white jute breeding line BJC-2142 for its optimum growth and yield. Study revealed that significant increase of fibre yield with the addition of increasing combination doses of fertilizer in compare to control at both the locations. Highest fibre yield 2.48 t/ha was obtained with 100-10-60-20 NPKS kg/ha at Faridpur and at Kishoreganj 3.19 t/ha with 100-15-90-30 NPKS kg/ha. The fibre yield was not increased significantly with higher dose of PKS beyond 5-30-10 kg/ha. Therefore, 100-10-60-20 and 100-15-90-30 NPKS kg/ha would be the required dose of this breeding line BJC-2142 for obtaining yield at Faridpur and KIshoreganj respectively.

Objectives:

Methodology:

The experiment was laid out in RCBD with ten treatments of NPK and Zn having three replications. The unit plot size was 3.0m x 3.0m with one meter space between the blocks, plots and around the field. There were 20 cm deep drain around each plot, block and around whole plot to drain out excess rain water. The following ten selective treatment combinations of NPK and Zn were used in the experiment: Treatments(N-P-K-S Kg/ha): T₁: 00-00-00-00 T₂: 50-05-30-10 T₃: 50-10-60-20 T_4: 50-15-90-30 T_5: 100-05-30-10 T₆: 100-10-60-20 T₇: 100-15-90-30 T₈: 150-05-30-10 T₉: 150-10-60-20 T₁₀: 150-15-90-30 Half of N and full amount of P, K and S from Urea, TSP, MP and Gypsum respectively were applied to the experimental plot as per treatment design at the time of final land preparation. Remaining half of N was top dressed at the time of 45 days after sowing. All the cultural practices were done properly in time.

Achievement/Findings:

Study reflects that 100 kg N/ha in combination with 15-90-30 or 10-60-20 PKS kg/ha may be used location specific for fibre production of the variety BJC-2142.
